Vote YES on L for NMC Kids
Vote YES on Measure L to repair and upgrade North Monterey County Unified School District schools.
Nearly all our schools were built over 60 years ago and don’t meet current health and safety codes. Some buildings aren’t accessible for students with disabilities, and others have hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead pipes. We need to fix these problems at our schools.
Measure L will fund projects to support current and future education programs that ensure all students receive the college preparation and career training they need to compete for good-paying jobs.
All money raised by Measure L will stay local to support North Monterey County kids. By law, it cannot be taken away by the State or used for other purposes.
Vote YES on L to:
Remove hazardous materials like asbestos and lead pipes and replace wood and support beams that have extensive dry rot
Repair or replace deteriorating roofs, plumbing, gas lines, sewer lines, and electrical systems
Upgrade and replace failing HVAC systems in classrooms and school buildings
Upgrade older schools to meet current health and safety codes and be accessible to all students
Measure L guarantees strict fiscal accountability:
Local Control: All funds must be dedicated solely to NMCUSD classrooms
Transparency: A specific project list must be provided to show exactly how the funds will be used
Public Oversight: An Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee and annual independent financial audits are legally mandated
Protection of Funds: No funds can be spent on administrator salaries, benefits, or pensions
Good schools benefit us all. They improve property values, provide a better learning environment for students, increase safety, and educate tomorrow’s community leaders and service providers.
